Effective Altruism Utrecht (EAU) is a student organisation for those who want to find the best ways of doing good, using evidence-based reasoning.
About us
Effective Altruism Utrecht at EAGxRotterdam 2022!
Effective Altruism is a research field and social movement which aims to find and pursue the best ways to improve the world. It offers an approach to make different social challenges comparable, to set priorities between them, and to inspire people to take action in a way that fits them best. Examples include donating a fixed part of your income to the most cost effective charities or building a career to tackle some of the world’s most pressing problems directly.
EAU is part of a global student network and serves as a platform for EA-interested students in Utrecht to exchange their ideas, develop their thinking, and expand their knowledge. Our goal is to inspire students and staff of Utrecht University to take on an evidence-based, impartial and ambitious perspective towards doing good.

What we do
Meetups
Join us on Tuesday evenings 8PM at Café De Bastaard, Utrecht if you are interested to know more about EAU, positive impact in general, or if you would simply like to say hello! For the exact agenda, check out our announcements group-chat or fill in the contact form.
Book club
Join our book club to delve deeper into an EA-related topic. During weekly discussion groups, you get the chance to discover new areas of EA or related topics, and to immerse yourself into a detailed discussion with other students! Every month, there’s a new book and a new chance to sign up!
Fellowship
New to EA? Join the next Introductory Fellowship and get up to speed in 8 weeks with a small group of peers! We also organise advanced and area-specific programs, like the Alt Protein Fundamentals or AI Safety Fundamentals program.
